Congregational Care

People Matter

Our dedicated Congregational Care pastors, staff and volunteers work to meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational needs of our Mt. Horeb community. We provide support, care and prayer for the needs of families and individuals going through various stages of life. There are several ways to have congregational care come alongside you or your loved one - from hospital and homebound visits to care and support group.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry equips its members to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministers are members of the congregation with the gift of caregiving and are carefully selected to walk beside hurting individuals. If you would like to be a Stephen Minister or are going through some issue in life and need a Stephen Minister, please contact the Congregational Care team.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare meets on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Chapel. For more information, contact Lynn Ullman at (803) 271-3904.

DivorceCare

Whether newly separated or divorced for years, DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. DivorceCare meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 PM in Room 547. For more information, contact Doreen Michaels at (414) 477-9120.

Surviving the Holidays

On Tuesday, November 12, from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall, our Stephen Ministry and GriefShare will sponsor a Surviving the Holidays program. This will be a time to help deal with grief during the holidays while remembering our loved ones together. Contact Lynn Ullman at lynnullman@gmail.com to register. Then, on Wednesday, November 20 from 6-8:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall, DivorceCare will sponsor a Surviving the Holidays program for those experiencing separation and/or divorce in this season. Contact Doreen Michaels at gmadory@yahoo.com to register.

Cancer Support

Cancer can be an overwhelming diagnosis, but you don’t have to go through it alone; share the burden with the help of others who have faced the same challenges. This group meets for spiritual, educational, emotional and social support on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Currently meeting virtual in this season.

Dementia Caregivers  Group

The Dementia Caregivers Group is for those who are caring for a loved one suffering from dementia, whether at home or in a residential care facility.  Other caregivers, experienced in this role and understanding of your pain, can help you navigate through the day-to-day challenges.  Meetings are every Tuesday from 10:00-11:30 AM, in Room 405 at the church.  For more information,  please contact the church office at 803-490-0200.
