Best WKND Ever Vol. 5

It’s that time of year – Best WKND Ever Vol. 5. Middle school and high school students are invited to join us Friday – Sunday, March 14–16, for a fantastic weekend filled with worship, teaching, guest speakers, small groups, games, competitions, food, fun and tons of friends. We like to refer to Best WKND Ever as an “in town retreat” where all the action happens close to home. High school students have the added fun of staying overnight at area host homes in their same-gender small groups. Middle schoolers don’t stay overnight, but they will still have an awesome time throughout the weekend.
The year’s theme for Best WKND Ever is “Found: Found People Change The World.” We want students to understand that as followers of Jesus, we play a significant role in reaching the world with the gospel. God chooses to use us – even middle and high school students – to reach the unreached.

FAQ’S
- What is the Best WKND Ever Vol. 5?
This is a weekend long event for the middle and high school students of Mt. Horeb Church and their friends. The weekend will consist of large worship sessions as well as times of fun, hanging out, open and structured free times and sharing meals together. - Why Vol. 5?
Because we are now five years in the making. What started out of necessity during COVID in 2020 has been a success and we are excited to continue to build off of the momentum we see each year. - How long will this event last?
High school students stay for the entire weekend including sleeping overnight at Mt. Horeb family host homes. Middle schoolers will not stay overnight; however, their schedule is largely the same as high schoolers. The final session is Sunday morning at 10:45 AM. - Who is the guest speaker?
Our speaker this year is Dr. David “Duffy” Robbins. Duffy is a respected youth ministry veteran with over forty years of experience in the field. He speaks around the world to teenagers and people who care about teenagers. In addition to his role as a faculty mentor for Gordon-Conwell’s Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program, Duffy is Professor of Youth Ministry at Grove City College and a teaching pastor at Faithbridge Church in Spring, Texas. His warm conversational style, coupled with a quick sense of humor and a unique ability to make Scripture come alive, have also made him a popular speaker for church youth groups around the country. - Will students spend the night at church or in host homes?
This year we are thrilled to once again offer host homes for high school students! Host homes are families of Mt. Horeb Church who open their homes to allow our high school groups to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday nights. This helps keep the weekend as affordable as possible by eliminating the need for hotel rooms. Middle school students will return to their homes both Friday and Saturday night. - Will Middle School and High School Students be together or separate?
This event is designed for both middle and high school students. We have intentionally thought through how the event can serve both age groups while offering an opportunity to be together as the whole of Mt. Horeb Students. The goal is for both age groups to feel welcomed, invested in and excited for an environment curated for them. - Why does the event cost $100?
The registration fee covers all expenses for the weekend including activities, t-shirt, guest speaker, printed materials, all meals during our time together and more. We work to keep the cost as low as possible. - What will the sessions look like?
Each session will be a high energy experience. We will have some incredible times of worship, and relevant teaching from the Bible through our guest speaker. We will also have a lot of fun, games, videos, giveaways and more. This will be like our typical Wednesday or Sunday night programming – but on steroids. - Who supervises the students?
Like most of our events, we rely on our screened and trained small group leaders, parents and other volunteers. We take great care to make sure all volunteers follow our Safe Sanctuary policies. - How can I volunteer to help?
If you want to get involved, please email Stephanie Cunningham at stephanie.cunningham@mthorebchurch. - What will Sunday morning look like?
All students will attend the 9:00 AM Contemporary Service and sit together wearing their Best WKND Ever t-shirt. Afterward, we will head to the Student Room for breakfast before the final session of the weekend. This session will conclude by noon.
