Care Closet Creation
Through this outreach, we will collect and organize items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, soap, t-shirts, socks, water bottles and other personal care essentials. These items will be made available to school staff so they can discreetly provide for students in need throughout the year.
This is a meaningful opportunity to make a tangible difference in a child’s life. Something as small as a toothbrush or water bottle can help a student feel cared for, prepared and confident.
This event is taking the items donated through GO Week Care Closet Collections and creating a care closet at the school with the school social worker. You will help sort and organize supplies at the school, essentially creating and preparing the Care Closet for easy access and ongoing use.
Meghan Sanders is the Care Closet Creation Captain. Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with more information. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Meghan with any questions.

House Warming Shower for Missionaries
Chris and Elmira Knutzen served in Russia as missionaries with CRU for over 20 years. They have 4 children, ages 22, 16, 13 and 11. Recently, they moved back to the United States, purchased a home in Lexington and are starting a new life. When they left Russia, they left with only their personal belongings. Help us stock their home with all of the items that they will need. Elmira has created an Amazon wish list.

Care Closet Collections
Join us as we come together to support students at two local elementary schools by stocking their Care Closets with essential everyday items. Many children come to school without basic hygiene supplies, clothing essentials and school supplies. The absence of these essentials can impact their confidence, health and ability to focus in the classroom.

Car Care Ministry
Our Car Care Ministry exists to serve and support single moms in our community by meeting a practical, everyday need. We understand that maintaining a vehicle can be both costly and overwhelming, especially when you’re carrying the responsibilities of work, home and family on your own.
Through this ministry, we offer free oil changes as a simple but meaningful way to ease that burden. More than just car maintenance, this is an opportunity to show care, provide encouragement and remind single moms that they are seen, valued and not alone.
We are looking for volunteers with experience in changing oil and basic car maintenance to serve on our auto care team. We also need a warm and welcoming hospitality team to prepare and serve snacks, creating a comfortable and inviting environment. In addition, volunteers are needed to lead simple craft activities for moms and their children to enjoy while they wait.

Family to Family: Walk in Their Shoes
This is a meaningful, hands-on mission service opportunity designed for families of all ages to do at your convenience! Walk in Their Shoes is designed to help children and adults better understand the daily challenges faced by kids living in poverty—right here in our community.
Through age-appropriate activities, stories and guided conversations, families will learn about the impacts of food insecurity, lack of basic clothing and limited access to essential resources. The goal is not only awareness, but compassion—and action. Together, we can meet practical needs while teaching our children the importance of empathy, generosity and service. Learn, give and serve alongside us as we support students in our community.

NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR BLOCK PARTY
Join us for our Neighbor to Neighbor Block Party! This event is more than food, games and fun—it’s an opportunity to love our neighbors and build relationships. We will host the block party in our Park North community that is home to many of our 10:10 Bridge Afterschool Program children. Every smile, meal served and game played is a chance to show Christ’s kindness and care to families in our community. The purpose of this Block Party is to create a warm, safe and joyful environment where families relax, kids play, neighbors connect and everyone leaves encouraged. Every volunteer helps set the tone of friendliness and hospitality—we’re here to serve with smiles, teamwork and love. What’s great about this event is that your whole family can be involved!

In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene caused widespread catastrophic damage in Western North Carolina. Through a partnership with On Mission Network, we will be coming alongside to help rebuild, restore and repair homes of those affected by Helene who are either uninsured or underinsured. The damage is so vast that On Mission estimates that they will be working in Western NC until 2034. On Mission is currently still in its first rebuild phase and in need of skilled and unskilled volunteers to help get people back into their homes in a safe, sanitary and functional way. There will be light to heavy construction and something to do for everyone of all skill levels.
