Disaster Relief

Hurricane Helene Disaster Response

At Mt. Horeb, we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus when disaster strikes. We have volunteers who are trained to assess, tarp, muck out, remove debris and assist in a variety of distributions and services including food and water, or offering care to those who have been directly impacted through our Disaster Response Teams (DRTs). Our DRTs are under the greater umbrella of Disaster Response within the Global Methodist Church of South Carolina.

Need Assistance

If you or someone you know needs help because of Hurricane Helene, please let us know. This could include clearing trees, yard work, grocery shopping, food and water needs or finding community resources.

Willing to Give

Mt. Horeb will partner with the Global Methodist Church for you to give financially to disaster relief efforts happening across Lexington, South Carolina, and in the South Carolina and North Carolina affected areas. Select "Disaster Relief (Helene)" in the dropdown menu on our giving page.

Willing to Serve

Only those who are already trained can join a DRT, however, we want to be prepared for any level of help our neighbors may need. If you are willing to be on stand-by to help if a need arises, please sign up and you will be notified if we need volunteers. Please note that volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Donation Items Needed

Many families in our South Carolina area and in Western North Carolina need basic supplies. We are partnering with the Global Methodist Church and emergency responders to get these items to the needy families in the hardest hit areas. Please drop your donations off Monday through Thursday from 9 AM – 12 PM and 4 – 7 PM and on Sunday mornings from 8:30 – 11:30 AM. We will collect items for the whole month of October. Look for Mt. Horeb’s Disaster Response Trailer at the white metal garage across the far west end of the parking lot. The items below are the only items that are needed for this collection. Please look over this list and only bring the requested items.
